Summit Wannamaker
FOR PARK BOARD
Summit is a wildland firefighter, student at UBC, and outdoorsman with years of experience at the municipal, federal, and provincial levels of government. At UBC, Summit is the president of the UBC Young Liberals, where he has had the chance to engage local youth in the intricacies of federal politics.
Summit’s work as a wildland firefighter have exposed him to the on the ground impacts of climate change, from increasingly severe wildfire seasons to the challenges that communities face in the event of climate related crises. These experiences have strengthened his interest in creating preventative infrastructure in our parks and recreation spaces, while ensuring our reactive leadership remains in place.
Summit is a proud Kitsilano resident, and can be frequently found running or biking the seawall.
As a Vancouver Park Board Commissioner, Summit plans to use his adaptability, leadership and discipline to contribute to a safer, more accessible experience in our greenspaces. He is a strong believer that the priority of the park board should be to create spaces of community, while simultaneously contributing to a healthier population.
