What to Expect

  • In order to be eligible to run as a candidate for School Board, Park Board, or City Council, you must meet several basic requirements: 

    • Be 18 years of age or older on general voting day,

    • Be a Canadian citizen,

    • Have been a resident of British Columbia for at least six months before filing nomination documents, and

    • Not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to or holding office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.

  • Vote Vancouver is committed to an open nominations process. In order to stand in the 2026 Vancouver Municipal Election with Vote Vancouver, prospective candidates must apply using the form on this page, complete the nomination application form, and be successful in our nomination contest.

    Nomination Application forms must be completed and submitted no later than March 15th, 2026, including the submission of a $100 application fee.
