Love your community
A great city is more than housing and roads. It’s the library your kids grew up in. The community centre where you swim. The trees that shade your street. The gathering places where you meet with friends. These are the things that make a neighbourhood feel like home.
Here’s how Rebecca will make your neighbourhood an even better place to live.
-
You shouldn’t need to understand the organizational chart to get something done at City Hall.
Rebecca will make it more open, accessible and responsive, including making sure you can reach an actual person when you need one.
-
Technology can improve City services, but it shouldn’t become a barrier.
Rebecca will create a Seniors Desk at City Hall so older Vancouver residents can get straightforward, personal help with City services
-
Good local government should be connected to the communities it serves.
Rebecca will create Neighbourhood Hubs that connect residents with City services, community resources, and support closer to home.
-
Community centres, libraries, and pools are where community life happens.
Rebecca will invest in them so Vancouverites of every age have welcoming places to learn, play, exercise, gather and connect.
-
Schools sit at the heart of neighbourhoods across Vancouver.
Rebecca will work to create more opportunities for school spaces to serve their communities beyond the school day.
Childcare and education go hand in hand, the facilities that people are already familiar with can be better used to serve families with young children before they enter the public school system.
-
Vancouver’s mature trees cool our streets, provide habitat, manage rainwater and make our neighbourhoods more livable.
Rebecca will maintain Vancouver’s 30% tree-canopy target while separately tracking mature canopy and new plantings, so we know what we’re protecting, what we’re losing and whether new planting is keeping pace.
-
Vancouver has a responsibility to reduce emissions and prepare for a changing climate.
Rebecca will reinstate Energize Vancouver and focus on practical measures that reduce building emissions, improve energy performance and strengthen Vancouver’s climate resilience.
Climate leadership should be ambitious, measurable and focused on results.
A city this good shouldn’t be this hard. let’s get it working again - Together.
