Noosha Mehdian

For School Board

Dr. Noosha Mehdian is an educator, researcher, and academic leader who has spent two decades at the front lines of teaching, technology, and equity and believes those questions matter just as urgently in Vancouver's K-12 classrooms as they do in any university.

With experience spanning classroom teaching, curriculum design, and senior academic administration, Noosha brings both scholarly rigour and practical leadership to the challenges facing public education today. Through her collaboration with the University of Oxford, she is contributing to international conversations about how schools can integrate AI in ways that strengthen rather than shortcut learning, preserving the critical thinking and human connection that no algorithm can replace. Much of this work, particularly around academic integrity and designing learning that holds its value in an AI-saturated world, translates directly into the K-12 context VSB is navigating right now.

A Vancouver parent who understands how much families want to be genuine partners in their children's education — not just recipients of decisions already made — Noosha is committed to a VSB that earns that trust through transparency and real accountability.

She holds a doctorate in language education and has built her career at the intersection of research, pedagogy, and institutional leadership, teaching across public and private universities in Vancouver and collaborating with scholars across three continents. She is running for Vancouver School Board with Vote Vancouver to help build a city where parents are informed partners, teachers are supported rather than sidelined by technology, and every student has what they need to thrive.
